If you have not heard, Google places extremely high emphasis on how many backlinks you have going to your site.

What is a backlink?

This is simply a link from other sites to your blog. One way links are better, meaning you have not exchanged links with them. Instead they have simply decided that the content on your site was worth linking to.

Here are just a few ways to get backlinks:

1) Squidoo pages with keyword targeted links to your site.

2) Hubpages with keyword links to your site

3) Online press releases

4) Articles submitted to article ezine directories that have your links in the Author bio.

5) Links that come from twitter, facebook and other web 2.0 sites.

6) Link backs from blogs

7) Link backs from message boards

8) Youtube videos that have your link in the description

9) Bookmarks to your site from social bookmarking sites
