Try not to forget that any audience, online, has a terribly short attention span. They do not want to devote a lot of time to any one particular thing, like reading. If you write more than five hundred words you run the risk of losing your reader’s attention. If you are a good writer you could probably keep it for a few more hundred words, but if article writing is not your strong suit, keeping it short is a good idea. Keep your articles centered on one idea. Again, if you’re experienced you can deviate, but if you’re not then it’s not suggested you try this. The challenge for the inexperienced writer is effective organization of multiple themes within one article. It will be much easier to expand on a single idea within an article, and your expertise and knowledge will come through better. If you do try this and fail, then your writing will appear to be insufficient and will not reflect well on you. And if you stay focused in your articles, you’ll end-up with more articles in the long run. Your reputation will be stronger if you can produce more articles, and you’ll get more backlinks to your sites, too.

Shorter paragraphs are better than longer paragraphs. You were probably taught to write a paragraph for each major idea in your article. But, not here – not in your articles, so you can forget about that one. You probably know, because you’re like this, that people on the net are overloaded with information, so they want it fast, furious, and right now. Using short paras will help them, and it also will not annoy them which will help your article get read. Goes without saying, but we’ll say it, use line breaks between paragraphs. Avoid indenting – too hard on the eyes. It’s a fact that online readers are terrific scanners of information, so your short paras will help them do that. Article marketing has proven over and over again to work with traffic generation. But you don’t want to waste your efforts by producing bad articles because they will not work for you.
